John Cardinal Parks has over 40 years of experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation matters and creating legal solutions to complex business problems. John has first chair jury and bench trial experience in dozens of cases and has briefed and argued numerous cases to federal and state courts of appeals. His first chair trial experience includes litigating to verdict a three-month long antitrust conspiracy trial that resulted in a final judgment more than $600 million and a 63-day long Chapter 11 confirmation hearing over three competing plans of reorganization, arguably the longest and most complex confirmation hearing in the history of American bankruptcy law.
John’s primary areas of focus include matters related to complex business and commercial litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency, and antitrust and competition. John also has experience in intellectual property, trade secret, and securities fraud litigation. Over the past decade, John’s expertise has expanded to include transactional matters, including negotiating and drafting security agreements, deeds of trust, asset purchase agreements, and other transactional documents. In addition to having a breadth of experience across many disciplines of law, John has represented clients in a variety of different industries, including investment funds, airlines, railroads, electric utilities, mining operations, manufacturers and distributors, transportation and logistics, contractors, telecommunications, and healthcare.
John has been awarded an AV Preeminent® Rating by Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review, the highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards. Prior to joining Practus, John was associated with several national and international law firms, including Squire Patton Boggs, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath, Dewey & LeBoeuf, and Lewis Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith.
When not working, you will find John on the golf course, birding, weight training, or walking Joey, his beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

If I didn’t work for a law firm, I’d be a professional golf instructor.
