Chris Colvin has worked as an Intellectual Property litigator for over 25 years, delivering outstanding results for companies of every size in all types of IP cases, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and false advertising disputes. He has successfully handled dozens of IP litigation matters, resulting in victories or favorable settlements for his clients. For over 20 years, Chris has also served as an outside General Counsel to several successful startups. In both 2023 and 2024, Chris was selected as a New York Metro Super Lawyer.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University. After starting his career as an engineer with IBM where he designed key components of the U.S. air traffic control system, Chris earned a J.D. from George Washington University Law School. He was one of only 15 students in his class awarded seats on both the Moot Court Board and a competitive law journal. Most recently, Chris earned a Certificate in Cybersecurity from Harvard University.
When he’s not working, you’ll find Chris biking around New York City, hiking with his family around the U.S., doing various home repairs (from refinishing the front porch to repairing the washer & dryer), watching professional soccer with his son Jack, doing jigsaw puzzles and exchanging cringe-worthy dad jokes with his daughter Ellie and going on long walks with his wife Stephanie and their dog Bella in Ditmas Park (their historic, Victorian-era neighborhood in Brooklyn) or in Fair Harbor on Fire Island.
“Commit yourself to lifelong learning. The most valuable asset you will ever have is your mind and what you put into it.”

If I didn’t work for a law firm, I’d teach history and coach soccer.
