Jill Zimmerman Holub has practiced law for over 28 years and has a hands-on knowledge of what it takes to run a business from serving in executive leadership positions in two national law firms (commercial litigation and on-demand, in-house counsel firms) for over a decade. Additionally, for a decade, she served as General Counsel and Compliance Officer for a healthcare services company. Jill brings her unique combination of legal, operational, and strategic experience which allows her to provide nimble and strategic advice to enable her clients to achieve their legal and business objectives.
Just like her first name, Jill’s legal practice is spelled with two “L’s” – life sciences and litigation. For the last decade, Jill has supported numerous pharmaceutical and medical devices companies with commercialized products. As a commercial and brand counsel, she supported multiple commercial launches of FDA approved drugs, and has extensive experience serving on advertising, promotional and medical review committees. In litigation, Jill has successfully represented diverse clients in federal and state courts, in a diverse array of areas including intellectual property litigation (both patents and trademarks), commercial and complex litigation. She is best known for building national litigation programs for the nation’s largest banks. Jill developed and executed successful commercial litigation strategies, built national teams of attorneys, developed proprietary reports to oversee thousands of contested litigations, and supervised a team of litigators in thousands of cases across the country. She also represented manufacturing clients in thousands of toxic tort litigations and was an intellectual property litigator. She has successfully conducted trials, depositions, and negotiated favorable resolutions for her clients.
Jill and her family live in Boston’s newest neighborhood, the Seaport and in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, where she skis, snowshoes, hikes and tries out as many new recipes as she can. She enjoys visiting her kids at college, wildlife travel, and boating in Boston harbor.

If I didn’t work for a law firm, I’d love to host a travel and food show like Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown.”

Prior to joining Practus, for nearly 10 years, Jill was a Partner with Outside GC LLC and a Partner in Patent GC LLC, and for most of that time served as their Chief Operating Officer. While COO, Jill worked closely with the firm’s two founders and helped to grow the firm into the nation’s largest provider of on-demand in-house counsel legal services. While there, Jill’s legal work focused on supporting pharmaceutical, medical device, healthcare and other companies of all sizes. She worked extensively with Sanofi Genzyme for multiple US and global business units performing promotional and medical review for multiple FDA and foreign approved drugs, as well as review ad board and speaker materials and the full array of product attorney responsibilities. For many other life science and healthcare clients Jill drafted and negotiated diverse agreements, including supply, distribution, marketing, collaboration, and quality agreements. Jill’s life science and medical device clients also include Blueprint Medicines, Jounce Therapeutics, Pear Therapeutics, Inc., Théa Pharmaceuticals, Zealand Pharma U.S., and others. She has supported clients during the critical and intense launch period after approval by the FDA, as well as clients with no commercialized products. Jill has helped to develop, operationalize, and train employees on comprehensive compliance programs for life science companies. Additionally, as a Partner of Patent GC, she focused on trademark prosecution and enforcement and brings that intellectual property and data privacy background to her clients.
In another highly regulated industry – national banks, Jill was the Vice President of Contested Litigation for a national commercial law firm with offices in 28 states. She oversaw over 100 attorneys and over 20,000 litigation cases for the nation’s largest banks and financial services companies during a time of intense regulatory scrutiny. She worked closely with the firm’s leadership and her banking clients to ensure they accomplished their business goals, minimized litigation and regulatory risk, ensuring strong outcomes in contested lawsuits across the US. Jill operationalized complex client requirements with federal and state regulations at a time of intense scrutiny and during a period of serious economic downturn.
For nearly a decade, Jill also served as General Counsel and Compliance Officer to a healthcare services company that served diverse healthcare providers and institutions. Jill represented numerous pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and advised on diverse healthcare related agreements and compliance matters. She is adept at working at the interface of technology and law. Throughout her career, she reviewed and negotiated a broad range of contracts for day-to-day business operations including vendor/supplier agreements, consulting agreements, software licenses and NDAs.
Jill has also practiced as an IP litigator and filed trademark applications for her clients. During her nearly 30-year career, she has enjoyed supporting companies and individuals in times of growth and has been a trusted advisor in challenging times. She has found it to be very rewarding.
