ABOUT

Jess Collen’s interest in trademark law sprung from his early career, as owner and operator of retail businesses, at the front lines of where brands lived and competed with each other. After law school, he began working at a Manhattan IP firm and quickly became involved in trademark litigation involving consumer products, and soon thereafter, wristwatches and other luxury goods. He represents a large number of luxury companies both before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and in federal District Courts across the United States, as well as many circuit courts of appeal. He led a team which brought a copyright matter before the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been involved in thousands of applications at the Trademark Office and been counsel of record in an expansive number of litigated matters before the trademark office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He has served as an expert witness on U.S. Patent and Trademark Office procedure in court and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office proceedings.

He also has been included in the annual listing of New York Super Lawyers (2012-2025) in the area of intellectual property, and ranked in the WTR1000 for litigation and enforcement.

ALTERNATE CAREER PATH

Alternate Carrer Path

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d hopefully be doing something that would benefit mankind. But, in reality, I probably would have been a sports broadcaster or running a chain of retail stores.
