Los Angeles, CA – Steven E. Young, Head of Litigation for Practus LLP scored a victory in Los Angeles Superior court recently. His clients were the former owners of Agape Home Healthcare Services in Southern California. The married couple purchased the business 14 years ago, built it into a successful enterprise, and then sold it earlier this year.
According to Young, “Less than two months after the sale closed, they accused my clients of defrauding them and failing to meet their contractual obligations.”
The sales contract stipulated that the sellers were to receive accounts payable revenue that totaled $300,000, but the buyers refused to turn it over, so Young’s clients sued. The defendants countered with their own lawsuit alleging breach of contract and fraud. Young tried the case and countersuit in August in a two-week bench trial. He won both. Young’s clients will receive the $300,000 plus interest along with their legal fees, which Young says are still being determined but will run several hundred thousand dollars. No rest for the weary. Young has tried another case since then, for which he’s awaiting the decision, and he’ll spend much of December trying his final case of the year, this one an Intellectual Property case. Our money’s on Steve.
