(Philadelphia, PA) Practus partner, John Ramirez was recognized for pro bono legal work he does with the Support Center for Child Advocates (SCCA) in Philadelphia. The SCCA has served abused and neglected children in greater Philadelphia for more than 40 years. Volunteer attorneys and social workers provide legal counsel and social services advocacy to children navigating the legal labyrinth of the courts and foster care system. John has volunteered with Child Advocates since 2017. This year the organization recognized him as a 2024 Distinguished Child Advocate for his pro bono work representing 12 children from five families. But John says there is so much more to do.
“Child Advocates works with some 1,000 children a year who have suffered neglect and abuse and are vulnerable. Our work won’t be done until every child lives in a safe and loving home and has an equal opportunity to succeed.”
