As a former senior legal counsel of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Tom Sheehan has an extensive knowledge of federal securities laws and SEC regulations, particularly as they relate to the investment management world. With decades of experience handling compliance, fiduciary, and SEC examination and enforcement matters for his clients in these areas, Tom is well versed in asset management and securities, financial regulation and compliance and fund and investment product formation.
Tom is also an asset to fund advisers, mutual fund and ETF fund complexes, and fund directors. In such relationships, Tom provides legal counsel, orchestrates and/or participates in fund board meetings, and provides business acumen to further the successful creation, start-up and ongoing operation of mutual funds and ETFs.
When Tom isn’t working, you’ll find him spending time with his partner Sara Morris daughters Caitlin, Madeleine, and Cameron and their spouses/partners, grandson Rory, and four granddogs. Tom enjoys skiing, golfing, cycling, or working out. He also knows how to throw a good party and a good barbecue for family and friends. A lifelong Boston sports fan, Tom over the years has hosted in his home dozens of baseball players for the Portland Sea Dogs, the Red Sox AA affiliate, many of whom have gone on to play for the Red Sox or other major league teams. A Maine native, Tom also loves spending time on Cobscook Bay in downeast Maine and on Penobscot Bay in Belfast, where he particularly enjoys firepit sunsets with family, friends, and music.
