With close to 20 years’ experience, Sara Longley focuses her practice primarily on estate planning and probate matters. In 2013, she obtained her LL.M. in Taxation to better serve her estate planning clients. Prior to joining Practus, she worked with the small firm of Justin C. Jones, LLM, P.C. which brought her back, if only virtually, to the San Juan Islands, where she grew up and where the firm’s home office is located.
Sara makes her home in Seattle and had a diverse career including work as a photo finisher, ceramic artist, custom embroiderer, and as a journalist and editor with a small newspaper before attending law school at Seattle University School of Law. She continues to serve clients from her Seattle office and on Lopez Island.
An avid sailor, Sara can often be found racing sailboats around the Puget Sound region on summer evenings and weekends, or cruising in the San Juans with her partner Tim. She satisfies her creative side with knitting projects and amateur photography.

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d split my time between working in the arts and working on boats.

Sara began her legal career at a small tax law firm advising clients on business formation and employee benefits and then eventually left to operate as a solo attorney practicing in her preferred areas of estate planning and probate. She later obtained an LL.M. in Taxation to better serve her clients, both as an estate planning advisor and assisting clients in administering probate estates and trusts.
As a small firm owner, Sara built her expertise through continuing study and collaborating with other solo and small firm attorneys, eventually joining the firm of Justin C. Jones, LLM, P.C. to head up the firm’s probate practice and expand the firm’s estate planning area.
At Practus, we handle complex and challenging legal matters. I look forward to talking to you about how we can best meet your goals.
