As a business attorney and former startup executive, he is well versed in helping his clients manage the entire business life cycle from formation to exit. Brad advises his clients on securing startup capital and investments, corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, labor and employment issues, and tax strategies.
Brad also leans on his litigation and compliance experience to offer practical general counsel services to his clients as they navigate day-to-day challenges. As someone that has both drafted contracts and enforced them in court, Brad offers a unique and real-world perspective that helps clients achieve goals and avoid disputes.
Outside of his law practice, Brad enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing beach volleyball, and cheering for the Tar Heels. To further his passion for entrepreneurship, he serves as a mentor and coach in programs across North Carolina, such as LaunchRaleigh, UNCW’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and UNC’s SoftLaunch. Brad is also an adjunct professor of Business Law at Wake Tech Community College.

Prior to joining Practus, Brad was the founder of a boutique firm dedicated to addressing the needs of startups and growing businesses. He also served as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of Venn Therapeutics, a biotechnology company focused on the development of cancer therapies in the field of immuno-oncology.
Additionally, Brad has served in multiple internal and outside general counsel roles, advising on corporate finance and structuring, regulatory compliance, internal governance, mergers and acquisitions, and employment-related issues.
As a corporate attorney, Brad has represented clients throughout their business life cycle. He has assisted innovative startups in securing millions in growth capital and guided his clients through the sale of their business to both private and public acquirers. In between, he has helped his clients scale up and protect what they are building by implementing best practices in areas such as equity compensation, corporate governance, securing intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
When necessary, Brad has also gone to the mat for his clients. He has litigated their disputes in state and federal courts and successfully obtained favorable jury verdicts in multiple jurisdictions.
