1. Blame It on the Alcohol – GA Mayor Accused of Supplying Inmates
A small-town Georgia mayor isn’t like the other mayors. He’s a cool mayor, which is why he allegedly left a bottle of gin in a ditch for state prisoners on a work crew. So cool – until police arrested him after a city council meeting and charged him with two felonies. Meanwhile he’s suspended from mayor duties. Don’t expect him to rat out his friends – that’s for uncool mayors. This cool-hand Luke says he doesn’t remember what he did the day the booze turned up, nor does he know any prisoners. But hey, if you and your friends like need a ride or something from the store, he’s totally cool.

2. Gov’s Weird Veto & 400 -Yr Funding Bill Challenged
Give Wisconsin’s governor an “A” for originality. Since 1930, the state’s top cheesehead has had partial veto powers. So, when lawmakers sent Governor Tony Evers a bill increasing how much money public schools can raise through 2024-25, he partially vetoed it. That is, he vetoed the “20” and the hyphen, making the end date 2425. We’ll do the math – that’s more than 400 years from now. Legislators from both parties gave the move an “F” and supported a legal challenge. Wisconsin’s Supreme Court is weighing the case. Given that justices called Evers’ partial veto “crazy” and “absurd,” it’s a good bet they’ll homework some limits into its use.
3. Bronx DA Is Fab Over 40 and Fired
Crime schmime. What a former bureau chief at the Bronx DA’s office was really trying to catch – the title of Fab Over 40. Jessica Rosado saw the $40K cash prize, spa-cation and possible magazine shoot and said yasss please. Like any good boss, she used her Bronx DA email, and repeatedly messaged with her staff to “encourage” them to vote online for her every day. She even kept the pressure on her underlings while she vacationed in the Med through group chats. The ethics board determined that her beauty campaign was an ugly ethics violation and fired her. Add insult to injury, Rosado didn’t win – but she does want world peace.
4. Spotify Hates Sweden’s Employment Laws
In Sweden Spotify is urging the government to download a different tune regarding some of its employment laws. Norse code says employers can’t work employees between midnight and 5 a.m. except under very limited circumstances. The music streamer says because of that, it’s moving parts of 250 Sweden-based jobs to other countries. Spotify applied for an exemption, but Sweden’s Work Authority rejected its application lock, Stockholm, and barrel. Execs say they need engineers available 24/7 because of their global availability. Plus, they warn that Sweden won’t be able to grow its tech hub on this Nordic track. But the government says work-life balance is Vi-king. Time for Fika.

5. Critter Warning: Raccoons Trap Woman in House
A Washington state woman fed raccoons in her neighborhood for nearly 40 years. But that habit’s given her paws. A lot of paws. Apparently, the little gang of trash pandas told a few friends, who told a few friends, who also told a few friends and now a raccoon version of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds is playing out in her yard. When more than 100 masked bandits surrounded her house and stared at her like she was a Hostess Cupcake, she called 911. She says the new coons on the block scratch her walls and windows at all hours. Experts say if she doesn’t like the racconomics, Quit. Feeding. Them.
